Nepal Rastra Bank Syllabus for Assistant II Level
The exam has two parts: a written test and an interview. The written test has two papers, each worth 100 marks, with both short and long questions. You need to pass each paper separately, and then there’s a 25-mark interview. Sometimes, there’s also a quick objective pre-test before the main exam.
Paper I includes Banking, Accounting, Math and IT. Banking covers how Nepal’s banking system works, the role and powers of Nepal Rastra Bank, what other financial institutions do, and common banking services like deposits, loans, letters of credit, guarantees, SWIFT, remittance, foreign exchange, and cheque clearing. It also touches on financial literacy, financial inclusion, and money and capital markets.
Accounting covers basic accounting ideas, financial statements, bank reconciliation, internal control and audit, depreciation, government accounting, national accounting standards, NFRS, and inventory.
Math and IT focus on practical math (interest, profit–loss, discount, averages, data handling, price index) and basic IT topics like office systems, operating systems, databases, IT security, internet and email, plus NRB’s IT guidelines.
Paper II is about Economics, Management and Law. Economics includes Nepal’s economic structure, major macro indicators, monetary and fiscal policy, development issues, and the role of global institutions like the World Bank, ADB, AIIB and IMF.
Management covers the basics of management, leadership, communication, HR, supervision, and office management.
Law includes the Constitution of Nepal and major banking-related laws like the NRB Act, BAFIA, Banking Offence Act, AML laws, Company Act, Foreign Exchange laws, and Merger & Acquisition rules.
